An E-Commerce Success Story: A World-Class Web Storefront, Online in Weeks and Completed Affordably
In 2007, XOXOXO Designs (then Ausoleil Designs, prior to our recent merger) created a solid design for an emerging artist’s webstore. That e-commerce effort is still online today, with its original core code intact, with the site owner managing all content and making styling changes to it as she needs
When she started, the artist was working in a spare room in an apartment shortly after she got married. Today, after a lot of hard work, she sells her jewelry to customer all over the world using her web site and also in stores in the United States and in the UK, thanks in part to the professional and functional website she used to launch her enterprise. The site, she says, provided legitimacy in the beginning because of its appearance and its ease-of-function.
During the initial site development, XOXOXO Designs also provided photography services to the client at an exceptionally low cost, because her budget could not afford an expensive studio session with a professional model. Instead, we located an attractive emerging model who was interested in working for trade: her time in front of the camera, for jewelry in return. A deal was struck, photos were taken and they were used in the first season’s iteration of the site. Now that the store has grown and budgets with it, the owner provides her own art (she has added photography to her list of many talents) and adds it to the site when is updating it for a given season. The current edition is the 19th edition of this growing business’s platform.
She paid less than $1000 for the turnkey site, which was not only developed and linked to a database of products, photos and descriptions, it also also had a fully operational shopping cart linked to a credit card processor that handled payments. At the conclusion of the sale, the site generated and mailed a receipt to the customer and also created and mailed a shipping order to the jeweler. On the back end, there are management pages that handle items, categories, descriptions and prices, along with tools to estimate sales for a given product or group. In short, it was a legitimate store that worked right the first time.
This e-commerce site is typical a XOXOXO Designs success story, and one that proves that not only do we provide what a client wants and needs — and we delivered this project early, too — we also build websites that are going to last for the long run. And when you take your site live, we’ll be there to make sure it works right not only for you, but for your customers too. Guaranteed.
Our client recently told us that her growth will probably require her to finally upgrade her web presence to meet her needs, and when we asked her if XOXOXO Designs was going to be asked to bid, she told us “you are the only one that’s going to be asked to bid.” That’s a vote of confidence that we don’t take lightly. We earned her business in 2007, and in 2011, we will earn it again by giving her the same exact client experience: fast, right and reasonably priced.
It is the only way to do business.
